The Georgia Avenue Community Ministry has a rich history of reaching out to and responding to people in need in such a way as to create cooperation, build community and honor the gifts, abilities and talents that people bring with them into GACM. This Christian ministry will serve anyone in need regardless of religious affiliation or any other difference. Our desire is to work WITH people as opposed to "helping," so that relationships are formed, community grows and people gain what they need as well as helping others to have the same. The Georgia Avenue Community Ministry strives to be an asset building community development ministry.
Symposium to Spread the Word about the Value of Food Cooperatives
Wanda Wood speaks to an audience that came to Georgia Avenue Community
Ministry to learn about the virtues of food cooperatives. Little by little the word
is getting out that the cooperative model has many positive characteristics. Wanda
is a food co-op member, but also a member of the Board of Directors of GACM
because she wants to make sure the co-ops keep going so that others can benefit.
On the right is Rob Johnson, Chief Operating Officer of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Chad Hale, GACM Executive Director, is on the left.
GACM expresses its appreciation for the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Without ACFB, we could not do our work. ACFB services hundreds of organizations providing millions of pounds of food each year to N. Georgia and beyond, providing food at 16 cents a pound. Our hat is off to Bill Bolling, executive director, Rob Johnson, chief operating officer, and all of their fine staff. acfb.org
